APAD- Open skies and tall trees

Big beautiful open skies and large trees all unobstructed by man made features. Wonderfully amazing! I wanted to try to spot the moon out there but couldn't find it behind the clouds!

APAD- Drive into Estes Park, CO

This was an iPhone shot of the day! We are taking the drive into Estes Park for our travel day on day 3.

APAD- Posted Signs

For the second day of our vacation we hit up Palo Duro Canyon State Park just outside of Amarillo. I have some nice canyon shots, which will be posted to the blog at the end of the trip... but for some reason I always like photos with people in it better than landscapes for the most part :)

I decided to play with the new fisheye iPhone lens during our long commute through the flat lands of Texas.

I hear a commotion and head into the living to see what it Stephen was shouting about, turns out hornets have found a place between our window and our screen. I shot this with an iphone and some little lenses I bought for fun.

Just an evening of Super Mario All Stars for us today. This console was Stephen's wedding present from me :D

Because of my extended break, I've lost count of my days... so from this point on no more counting days, just hopefully more daily updates.

APAD- Day 179- Sauerkraut

Stephen's Uncle Terry made us a few jars of homemade sauerkraut! After the end of the night, I decided it was better to do a quick photo of the contents rather than not shoot anything at all.

APAD- Day 177- Officially a Calcote!

Miss Stella is officially a Calcote! I had a blast shooting her adoption hearing today! Such an amazing an beautiful family! 

APAD- Day 171- Signs of Love

I stumbled upon this sign during my walk with Hazel. Although it is slightly a bit of graffiti and or possibly vandalism... but they did it on saran wrap wrapped around a tree... so it is removable with a sharp blade! :) Silly sweet teenage gesture.

APAD- Day 170- Little Free Library

Hazel and I finally headed off to check out the Little Free Library in our neighborhood. Armed with a dog book, a recipe book and a healthy living book we arrived to find the cute little structure! I shot a few photos, randomly met the owner Andres as he was headed out and stumbled upon me photographing the little library and even left with a nice old book called Handmade 101 Easy to Make Things For Your Garden, Home or Farm.

What a fun experience, I would love one for our front yard!

APAD- Day 167- Green sushi

We gave the sushi place down the road another try... it was a flip of the coin. Half hit and and misses. Oh and one of them came out super green. A little bit odd... and a miss.

APAD- Day 166- Woodworking

So my little light project got an upgrade. I got ceramic bases and decided that since I wasn't going to install wiring through the walls than I was going to need to improvise. Unfortunately my woodworking skills aren't that advance! I think these may need a bit more modification before I am completely happy with them.

APAD- Day 165- Wee little one

I've been wanting a citrus tree forever and Stephen finally got me one for Valentine's day. My little orange tree had 5 oranges and then due to the storm, the little one fell off yesterday. We decided to slice it open and have a look inside. It is about the size of a nickel.

APAD- Day 164- Nestled in!

We are getting our fence repaired and the hens had to stay in the coop most of the morning and afternoon. They successfully laid in the nesting area and didn't peck a hole in their eggs! :)

APAD- Day 154- Bedtime Books

Sometimes when I can't decide what to shoot, I roam around the house and see what might make a nice photo. Today we have some books from Stephen's side of the bed inside of an old milk crate.

APAD- Day 153- Lonely little one

Our chickens are laying regularly now so we for the most part will end up with 2 eggs a day. Sometimes the chickens peck the eggs and I have to toss them out and on the rare occasion, sometimes an egg will have poop on it. The lonely one on the bottom, had a small bit of poop on it so it is sectioned off from the rest! Some people wash their eggs (to remove the bloom/protective barrier) and refrigerate them right away. I opted for the unwashed, room temperature eggs. (I wash them right before I eat them!)

A manual juicer is wonderful for when I am too lazy to eat a salad! :)

APAD- Day 150- Memory of Max

I've seen this toy squirrel in this photographer's bag before at another sporting event but didn't have the chance to ask him about it until now. The photographer is from out of town and when he use to make the trip to Austin for assignments, his dog Max would join him for the car ride up. Max unfortunately passed away to cancer at just 4 years old and the photographer was devastated over his loss. As a memorial to Max he now carries Max's favorite toy in his camera bag to continue their trips together to Austin.

Anyone who has been in our house has probably seen our "How we meet" picture frame. It started out in the kitchen but eventually made its way into a free space onto our bathroom wall.

APAD- Day 146- Nada

The day started out with a big thunderstorm rolling through town, which resulted in me savoring the morning and sleeping in! It basically was gloomy and rained all day and my motivation level just wasn't feeling it. So today photo is nothing... I didn't muster up the creativity to shoot anything! Whoops!

APAD- Day 145- Traditions

I help second shoot a wedding and the bride and groom threw a fantastic non-traditional wedding. The bride asked me to shoot a purse that her grandmother who could not attend had sent for her on her wedding day. It contained something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue. It even contained a sixpence for your shoe. (which I had never heard of!) Although the grandmother couldn't find a sixpence coin she put some change in the purse. So cute and sweet!
