Wiffle ball team, Snakes on a Plane player Bryan Adamcik, 18, pitches the ball at the Wiffle ball game in Elizabeth Milburn Park in Cedar Park on July 29. The games continue the following day and are open to all ages. Snakes on a Plane had been playing for about a week and includes five members, all graduate of Cedar Park High School. The score was two wins and no loses until this game.

Juniors at Westwood High School Lisa Gu, 16, Helen Wang, 16, Amber Makhani, 15, Kae Wang, 16, work in their converted guestroom-office to produce Candid Magazine. The girls hope to release their magazine to 12 local high schools around Austin and are having a premier party at BookPeople on August 12, from 7-9 p.m. Their magazine aims to provide entertainment and education for teens by teens. Five thousand issues were printed and the second issue is to come out next semester.

The camp which included 125 kids ages 6-12 started on Tuesday and taught the kids fire safety as well as basketball. The camp which started nine years ago is hosted by the Austin African American Firefighters Association and was held at Zaragosa Park.

Peanut Butter, "PB", bits a hold of his owner Susan Gilfillan's pants leg during the first ever Central Texas Duchshund Rescue Reunion at the Triple Crown Dog Academy in Hutto. Gilfillan flew down from Fort Lauderdale, FL to attend the event for the weekend. She adopted PB in January from the CTDR.

Trixie, who is 4-years-old has her hat adjusted for the costume contest by Ellen Donsbach, 24 who is a veterinary technician at the HWY 620 animal hospital. Trixie tied for first place in the contest. Dachshunds of all sizes showed up with their owners to the first ever Central Texas Dachshund Rescue Reunion at the Triple Crown Dog Academy in Hutto. Some of the events included a silent auction, agility test, dog look a like contest and a costume contest.

More kids!

Second year camper, Emily Garcia, 14 from Lake Jackson, TX came out to the 16th annual Sunshine Kids "Teen Lake Escape" for a week of fun. Sunshine Kids Foundation is a national non-profit volunteer organization based in Houston established as a recreational group for children who are seriously ill with cancer. The group of 19 kids came to Lake Travis from July 19-23 for a week of fishing, parasailing, fishing, swimming and other fun water activities.

The boys were at the Parks and Recreational Summer program, which involves local parks in Austin providing a free day watch service for parents to drop off their kids from 9-5 and also feeds them lunch along with the service.

Sara Moulton, a chef on the Food Network, held food demonstrations at Barton Creek Square Mall on Saturday. For the crowd she made Fried Chicken Salad and French Toast Mozzarella and Prosciutto sandwiches. Assisting Moulton is David Savoie, 21 from the Culinary Academy of Austin. The event was hosted by Simon super Chef Live! and included beverage sampling and cookbook sales as well as autographs.

"We are practicing for Olympic National Park", says Kristen Myers, 33 as she walks with her husband Nate, 33 and son Aidan, 4 at the Wild Basin Wilderness Preserve off of Loop 360. The Myers live in Round Rock and came out for the first time to the park to prepare for their trip to Olympic National Park in Washington.

Dorothy Richter, 85 feeds the geese that she suspects came from the East side of Lamar Blvd. A friend had called her the night before expressing concerned that the geese were missing from their usually spot which for a while been transformed into a parking lot. Richter has been coming to Zilker Park to swim and feed the birds for about 30 years.

Phil MacNut is a member of the local group called dorkbot. They comprise of a group of people who get together monthly to show off their inventions and innovations. MacNut invented this musical instrument that he implanted inside a vintage 1984 Macintosh computer that he purchased at Goodwill. The devices is connected to a Moog keyboard and is played by waving hands near the antenna of the machine.
