APAD- Day 79- Make-up test

Unfortunately for you guys/me, the actual photos of the prosthetics being used for this proof of concept shoot is to remain under wraps for now. 

In this shot we have Anna Fugate preparing the bald cap for the main actor Johnny Walter as they prepare to transform him into the main creature in the pre-production test shoot for the film, The Father by Stephen Belyeu.

APAD- Day 78- S'mores Cupcakes

These awesome s'more cupcake are vegan and gluten free! Mmm! They are wonderfully crafted by Kaylee Walters (our wedding cake baker) and can be found at Thai Fresh in Austin, Texas.

APAD- Day 77- Hazel and the hens

The hens have been with us for a month and Hazel has had limited free range exposure to them. Today I actually let her get physically close to them without the barrier of the coop.

 She did great, she even sat down to mind her own business....

And then freaked out when the chicken tried to peck her in the face! :)

APAD- Day 76- Studying

Studying up for my next shoot this week. I can't wait to shoot some goodies!

APAD- Day 75- Crowd of Sardines

This was technically shot at 1:30 am on Sunday, so it works for me. This was by far the most packed show, probably even fire safety hazard packed. I arrived an hour early, and barely made it by the front of the stage. On my way out from the stage to the back, someone snagged my caption book and my phone. I spend all day communicating with APD to see if they could try to get it back. Find iPhone app was able to find a location for itself at someone's residence in the quick second they powered the phone on. Retrieval was a no go... but needless to say, I was preoccupied so I didn't shoot anything additional for today!

I just received my manual juicer in the mail and went crazy on my large bag of oranges!

In hindsight, this picture would have been more effective if my orange juice was more opaque. Maybe I'll reshoot this during the day with natural light or a different technique.

APAD- Day 58- Hazel

I borrowed my sister's Leica 100mm lenses for a corporate shoot so I decided to play with this evening with my furchild.

I technical and officially forgot about yesterday's post and didn't pick up my camera to shoot anything before the end of the night. I did however shoot this single cell phone picture of Hazel enjoying the view and scents from the car window while we were briefly stopped at the light.

APAD- Day 55- Bouldering time!

APAD- Day 54- Chalkboard love

I found someone making chalkboards with " I love you because..." written on the top of it, and I wanted a specialized version of it. Stephen made us each one out of old matching photo frames. 

These are great when we do fill them out, they make you feel loved and appreciated! Wonderful way to start a morning and to remind you throughout the day. 

APAD- Day 53- Yay

Just a quickie table setting photo from a wedding I second shot today... it's too much work to try and cull the whole wedding and it is almost 2am! So yay bedtime!

APAD- Day 52- Toys

I came home with an hour until midnight after a long day of shooting at a corporate conference... while I was relaxing Hazel decided to pull out all of her toys and play with each one of them! Silly creature! 

APAD- Day 51- Naranjas

There's nothing more awesome than buying a 10 pound bag of oranges out of the back of a pickup truck on the side of the road. I swear the oranges and watermelons are always sweeter than the ones I find in the grocery store!

APAD- Day 50- Lush Green Grass

I am embracing the plushy green grass while I still have it. With Texas constantly in a drought, most of the time our lawn is brown and dead, so wonderful green grass you are all mine!

APAD- Day 49- Chickens again

 I can't wait until these gals are able to roam the yard! I'm going to keep them in their coop for a week and then they'll get supervised outings when I am home!

Also, in case you were wondering, the only way I can tell them apart is by their legs. Red has light yellow legs while Ruby has darker orangish yellow legs.

APAD- Day 48- Chicken homework

I have had these books since we built the chicken coop... and that was about 3 years ago! (see post from that day http://thaophotography.blogspot.com/2011/06/053011-apad-chicken-coop.html )

But now I have a little chicken reference library to make sure that all of my chicken's needs are met!

APAD- Day 47- Ruby & Red

Meet the new additions to the Belyeu household! Ruby is the one in the back, she is the quieter and more calm one. Red, who we named after Red from the show Orange is the New Black, is the more curious and feisty one! They are Rhode Island Reds!

APAD- Day 46- A fisherman's nightmare

While photographing this Brown Pelican a fisherman nearby started to tell us about how much of a pain they can be when you are trying to reel in a catch. 

APAD- Day 45- Mommy, don't leave me!

I put Hazel on the line when I let her out in the front yard, but as soon as she sees me approaching the car she begs to be let in. Once inside she will just sit there for hours if I let her!

APAD- Day 44- Up, up and away!

Tomorrow isn't just Valentine's for us. Tomorrow marks 4 years since we started dating!

There's nothing more fun than packing a suitcase for a weekend adventure! :)

Family friend, Sandra Gonzales, passes off a dozen hojas (corn husk) after spreading the masa onto them as the whole family gather to help spread.

Thanks Sandra for helping lead the pack and showing me how to make tamales!

The logistics:
25 lbs of masa, 6 lbs of lard, 1 pork head and 16 lbs pork shoulder

The outcome:
21 dozens of pork + 5 dozens of beans + bonus of enchilada sauce

Yay! :D

Stephen painted me a Totoro picture some time back. If you haven't seen the movie My Neighbor Totoro, it's a must see! It might be a children's movie but I love it regardless!
