APAD- Day 31- My friend Ron

If you have ever been to Big Stacy Pool in Austin, Texas between the hours of 8-10 am, then you have probably spoken to my friend Ron. I met Ron about 5 years ago when I was first trying to teach myself how to swim. Now whenever I can and whenever I get off my butt, I try to make it down to the pool.

Stacy Pool is an awesome place if you have never been, you should check it out. It is an outdoor pool, that is heated by an Artesian well during the winter. So outdoor swimming all year round among nature and the trees, yes please!

I have always wanted to take this picture, although in my mind, I envisioned something slightly different. You see, in the winter when conditions are just right, there is this amazing fog above the water and swimming there in the morning is pure bliss. I had hoped that this morning would be a nice foggy one, but alas I think it got too warm for that!

APAD- Day 26- 3-week-old Nathan

My sister-in-law requested some newborn baby photos... I've never tried photographing a baby before! These were my two favorite ones.

For some reason, the finger in Daddy's eye, is a little detail that I enjoyed! lol

APAD- Day 24- Snowsicle

Hazel is 4, and in the two years that we've had her, this is the first time that she is seeing snow/sleet. I let her out early in the morning to see what she would do. She didn't seem to care about anything but licking a sheet of ice that had formed on the deck!

APAD- Day 23- Chinese take out

Thao: Wanna order Chinese food on your way home?
Stephen: Does a bear shit in the woods

APAD- Day 21- The Visitor

We had a visitor today. Joey came over to hang out with Stephen, but what is evident in this photo is that he came over to see Hazel as well. He's one of Hazel's biggest fans!

APAD- Day 20- Backyard - Three way tie

I love photographing Hazel when she yawns, it seems to give her a little bit of a human expression!

Hazel peeking through a crack in the fence.

Just a standard but nice one of Miss Hazel.

APAD- Day 19- Banh Khot

The day was coming to a close and I still hadn't shot anything for the blog yet... I spent a portion of the day making Banh Khot, so today's picture is essentially me enjoying the fruits of my labor!

APAD- Day 18- I made him do it

I love Stephen because when I say, "Hey baby, I'm gonna take a photo of you when you are in the shower," he says, "okay".... now that's true love! :D

APAD- Day 14- Married life

After we got married, I always got asked, "So how's married life?" Well here's my photo response... it's just like it was when we were dating. We just comfortably hang out in the humble abode as home bodies. :)

APAD- Day 13- Hazel's vet visit

Hazel bear watches the crack under the door for her vet, Dr. Singleton, at South Park Animal Hospital during her annual check up in Austin, Texas on January 13, 2014.

APAD- Day 12- Lucy's Fried Chicken + bonus!

I had seen the kicking lady neon sign for some time and decided that since we had never been to Lucy's Fried Chicken, we should to give it a try.

This bonus is basically, I couldn't decide on a singular photo for today and I didn't want this one to disappear into oblivion... These are succulents that were taken from my wedding bouquet. My sister put them in some soil and even though they were cut, they sprung roots! So a living wedding souvenir!

APAD- Day 10- Die Mart

Just your standard Die Mart :) This is just down the street from my house and I see it nearly every day I decided to photograph it finally.

APAD- Day 9- Buried treasures

I was delighted to see this buried in the yard. On first look it looks like just some random plastic thing, but you don't understand, or see is that it is actually about 9 inches long! This is a Treatstik, it is a container with a small opening in it where you can put dog food and your dog has to roll it around and earn it's dinner/treat.

Hazel on the other hand, she doesn't actually play with it to earn her food, she grabs it like it's made of gold and scours for a spot in the yard to bury it. I lost it for about 2 weeks once and found it in a bag of potting soil next to the shed. This is the second time she has buried it!

APAD- Day 8- Editorial vs corporate shoots

So what is the difference between an editorial gig versus a corporate gig? For today, that instance is something I shall call swag.

When I am shooting in editorial mode, gifts/compensation/free hookups (of the monetary/goods variety) are all to be turned down in order to stay unbiased and ethically/morally fair to the subject.  i.e. swag = bad

When I am shooting for a corporation and said corporation has items that are not returnable/unsaleable after the shoot, said wonderful items are given away! I can take these items without guilt because I am working for them so no ethical boundaries are crossed.

So today's wonderful swag brought to you by Whole Foods Market!

APAD- Day 7- Indie Chefs Week

The food was absolutely delectable. Tonight it was an 8 course dinner by local chefs from various restaurants throughout Austin. My taste buds were in heaven!

APAD- Day 6- Sleeping Hazel

I'm gonna cheat and post a photo that I shot a few hours after Day 6 ended (2 am on the 7th)... I'll leave the old one up so I feel semi-honest about it!

Hazel passed out like this, I thought it was funny/cute :)

A little slow day. This is Miss Hazel sleeping in the back on the car ride home from hanging out with her doggie cousin Alfie.

APAD- Day 3- Fluffy velcro!

There's nothing like the love of a velcro dog. If I leave a room, my shadow is usually only a few steps behind me. If I hide, the shadow goes into a frenzy around the house in search of me! I love this fluffy girl.

APAD- Day 1: Happy Birthday Hazel!

Hello! Meet my wide-eyed furry child, Hazel! Today, aside from being New Years, also marks a great day for us. It is Hazel's 4th Birthday! It is also the day, 2 years ago when we adopted her. We've had her for half of her life now!

It's been over a year since I've given this blog any love. My new year's resolution is to post a photo a day, just like when I started this blog in college.
